Sunday 14^th October 2006, WHRC u14s at Home vs Doncaster

Wheatley won a close local ‘Derby’ match 29-12.

As usual, Wheatley were asleep for the first half, which Doncaster shaded 12-10.  The tries by Bergie and Jonno went unconverted.

In the second half, Doncaster wilted under a superb display of Wheatley ball skills, tactical awareness and incisive speed.  Bergie scored down the blind side from inside his own half – “not bad for a prop with an injured shoulder and a bad back.”  Jonno scored two more, having kept his temper for an entire match !  At the death, Sean grounded the ball in the corner, but the referee disallowed the try since he had been tackled around the neck on the way.  Wheatley won the ball from the 5 m scrum and moved it to Jonno who ran diagonally through a despairing Doncaster defence to score.  No-one could lay a hand on him.
